Connecting for a Cure- Bay Area 2026

We are very excited to join with CureLGMD2i worldwide at the Connecting for a Cure–Bay Area event to raise funds for treatments and a cure for Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy Type 2i and honor LGMD Awareness Day!

This year, the science caught up to our hope

When we gathered last, we told you that promising clinical trials were beginning. Now, before the end of 2026, the FDA is expected to decide on the first potential approved therapy for LGMD2i! Additional hopeful treatments are in clinical trials or nearing them. Next-generation gene therapies and CRISPR editing programs that this community has invested in for years have advanced far enough to attract major federal funding and begin planning first-in-human trials.

Why this year is personal for us

This year, Julie completed her 3rd year participating in a promising clinical trial that seems to be doing something good. With hopeful FDA approval in 2026, Julie and others will be able to continue on the treatment and hopes to be considered for the promising next wave of genetic medicine to support potential muscle building.

So when we ask you this year to buy a ticket, sponsor a table, or donate a prize, this is what we're asking for: the chance for Julie — and for every patient in our LGMD2i family — to keep moving forward into this exciting new era of medicine.
